Music from the New World: From the Baroque to the Present
Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 4:00pm at United Church of Christ, Medfield
JENNIFER LESTER, music director
Following its proud history of presenting the new and unfamiliar along with the established masterworks, The Seraphim Singers will be exploring in its next concert infrequently performed sacred choral works from the southern American hemisphere. Ranging from a recently discovered sixteenth century parody mass composed in Guatemala by Pedro Bermudez to twentieth century gems by Hector Villa-Lobos and Alberto Ginastera, this concert program traverses the riches of an often neglected repertoire. Of particular interest during this Lenten season, the program includes two very contrasting presentations of the Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah.
BERMUDEZ Missa de Bomba
GINASTERA The Lamentations of Jeremiah
SUMAYA The Lamentations of Jeremiah
VILLA-LOBOS Bendita Sabedoria
United Chirch of Christ, Medfield
496 Main Street, Medfield, MA
